Is Your Job Making You Sick?

I work with and talk to numerous business professionals that typically tell me the same things whenever I do a consultation.  Their lifestyles are sedentary, hours are long, lots of sitting in front of a computer screen and their health is diminishing.  So why the same story from every corporate desk jockey?
One idea is that your job is making you sick. Hmmm….
 So think about this for a second…
  • How are you sitting when you are at your desk?Is it upright?Or is it slouched?
  • Are you drinking enough water throughout the day?Or are you too busy to remember?
  • Are you getting at least 10,000 steps in per day?Or are you sitting for extended periods?
  • Are you eating several meals to keep your metabolism fueled throughout the day? Or are you stuck going from meeting to meeting to meeting without supply your body with adequate fuel
These are typical scenarios that I encounter with my corporate clients. 
Some quick solutions would be:
  1. Start an office walking group for lunch
  2. Bring a large water bottle and make sure you drink water all day
  3. Use those trips to the bathroom to get extra steps by taking the long route (even the stairs)
  4. Prep your day the night before so that you can a lot snacks for any meetings
  5. Purchase a stand up desk and do 10 squats every time someone calls your name
  6. Work when you are at work so that you can get things done in the time you are at work (no long extra hours and loosing sleep)
